Spider update

I guess it's high time I made an update on my spider collection. Well, I'll begin with my little problem-I mean this:
Chyba najwyższy czas zrobić update na temat mojej pajęczej hodowli. Zacznę może od małego problemu-czyli od tego:

I was trying to sell my Ephebopus murinus spiderlings, but without any success. One idiot bought them all from me on Allegro (Polish equivalent of Ebay) and he didn't pay. I was waiting for the payment for long enough that I'm now stuck with them for the whole winter. It seems that it's too late for selling them this year as it's gotten pretty cold outside. But it looks like they are happy where they are, just look at those burrows :)
Próbowałam sprzedać moje maluchy Ephebopus murinus, ale bez powodzenia. Jakiś idiota kupił je wszystkie ode mnie na Allegro i nie zapłacił. Czekałam na wpłatę tak długo, że na dworze zrobiło się za chłodno na wysyłkę. Wygląda na to, że będą musiały u mnie spędzić całą zimę. Ale chyba jest im u mnie dobrze, takie ładne norki sobie porobiły :)

Cyriocosmus ritae, C. leetzi, C elegans, Hapalopus triseriatus and Pseudohapalopus 'blue' have been given new homes. I hope they like them as much as I do.

I'm very proud of my Heteropoda davidbowie. Not so long ago they were so small that they were able to get out through the vent holes (that's why I had to cover them in half) and now they look like a barrel :D One of them is a little lighter...
Jestem bardzo dumna z moich Heteropoda davidbowie. Jeszcze niedawno przechodziły przez dziurki od wentylacji (dlatego musiałam zakleić je do połowy), a teraz już takie bąble się z nich zrobiły :D Jeden jest trochę jaśniejszy...

With those dark legs they remind me a little bit of Idiothele mira.

One of my Paraphysa parvula has molted to a female and it knocks and knocks every night.
Jedna z moich Paraphysa parvula wyliniała na samicę i puka mi teraz po nocach.

Looks like the other one will be a male. At least I hope so ;)

Honestly, I've had spiders for a few years and I still can't tell a juvenile male from a juvenile female apart. I know how an adult male looks like and that's it :(

Szczerze, mimo, że hoduję pająki od kilku lat, to nadal nie potrafię odróżnić niedorosłej samicy od niedorosłego samca. Wiem tylko jak wygląda dorosły samiec i to tyle :(

Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi are said to be a couple, too. We'll see.
Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi podobno też będą parką. Zobaczymy.

My male Ephebopus murinus looks horrible! He refuses to eat (when he recently ate after 2 months I was on cloud nine). He only thinks about the female.
Samiec-tatuś Ephebopus murinus wygląda okropnie! Nic nie chce jeść (jak ostatnio zjadł po 2 miesiącach to skakałam ze szczęścia). Tylko mu amory w głowie! (karapksie ;p )

The female at the same time aets for both of them and has so much energy that she has recently built a two-storey flat where the groundfloor is covered with elaborate carpet.
Samica natomiast lubi sobie pojeść za dwoje i ma dużo energii do pracy. Ostatnio zbudowała sobie dwupoziomowe mieszkanie, gdzie parter pokryty jest perskim dywanem :)

And here's a guy (even two guys) who will be VERY blue. Who will guess what it is? ;D It's going to be rather one of those miniture tarantulas. 
A tu mam cudeńko (a nawet dwa), które będzie BARDZO blue. Kto zgadnie co to? ;D Podpowiem, że pajączek należy do tych bardziej miniaturowych.

And if we're talking about blue, just look at those legs :D
A skoro już mowa o niebieskościach to spójrzcie na te nogi :D

I'm back :)

In fact, I came back a week ago, but as I've been a little busy, my update is a bit belated. 
W sumie wróciłam już tydzień temu, ale jako że jestem ostatnio zajęta, mój update jest trochę opóźniony.


Although I was absent for 2 weeks, all my creatures survived. My mum fed and sprayed the lizards, while the spiders had to live on the stock of roaches I left with them. I was really worried about the Ephebopus murinus' eggs, whose eggsac I opened just before leaving. After I came back, there were 1st instars in the incubator waiting for me. Because it's my first eggsac, I confused them with 2nd instars and worried why they didn't want to eat. But the lack of hairs confirmed that they're still 1st instars.
Choć nie było mnie 2 tygodnie, wszystkie moje stworki przeżyły. Mama dokarmiała i zraszała jaszczurki, a pająkom zostawiłam zapas karmówki. Bardzo martwiłam się o jajeczka Ephebopus murinus, którego kokon otworzyłam tuż przed wyjazdem. Po powrocie w inkubatorze czekały na mnie pajączki na etapie N2. Ponieważ jest to mój pierwszy kokon, myślałam, że to już L1 i bardzo się martwiłam tym, że nie jedzą. Ale ten brak włosków utwierdza mnie w przekonaniu, że to jednak nadal nimfy.

Unfortunately, some slings drowned in a few drops of water that dropped through ventilation holes. Moreover, many slings...just disappeared. I guess some eggs just died and that's it. Ultimately, from 95 eggs I got only 28 slings. I know it's not much, but I'm still happy that at least some of them survived. Nobody touched the incubator for 2 weeks and I could even expect that none of them would survive. 
Niestety kilka maluchów mi się utopiło w kilku kroplach wody, które przez dostały się do środka przez otwory wentylacyjne. Do tego kilkadziesiąt sztuk...po prostu znikło. Pewnie po prostu jajeczka wyschły i tyle. W sumie, z 95 jajeczek mam 28 pajączków. Wiem, że to niewiele, ale ja naprawdę się cieszę, że w ogóle coś z tego wyszło. Do inkubatora nie zaglądał nikt przez dwa tygodnie i mogłam liczyć się z tym, że może nawet nic z tego nie wyjdzie.


I went for my summer vacations with one "hidden" plan-that I would fulfil my dream of buying a snake. And so I did :D Finally, the snake terrarium isn't empty anymore :) I have always wanted to have a corn snake or a milk snake. Finally, I bought a bloodred corn snake. The fella is very timid at the moment and he's not leaving his hiding place until the lights are off. I can't take any photos of him, but yesterday I sneaked and took a shot with a flash lamp ;p
Pojechałam na wakacje z "ukrytym" planem-że spełnię marzenie o kupnie węża. I tak też zrobiłam :D Nareszcie terrarium dla węża nie stoi puste :) Zawsze chciałam mieć zbożówkę lub węża mlecznego. W końcu kupiłam zbożówkę bloodred. Koleś jest na razie bardzo płochliwy i nie wychodzi z kryjówki przed zgaszeniem światła. Nie mam możliwości go sfotografować, ale wczoraj zakradłam się i po ciemku strzeliłam mu z flesza ;p

In fact, he looks A LOT better! When he gets used to his new home, I'll take more pictures of him :)
W rzeczywistości wygląda O WIELE lepiej! Jak tylko się przyzwyczai, obfotografuję go ze wszystkich stron :)

Opening the E. murinus sac

Because I'm leaving tomorrow, I had to do something with the egg sac. Just to remind you: this is my first sac and I have absolutely no experience with taratula breeding. But I knew that leaving tjhe sac unopened for the next two weeks would not be a good idea. So I've decided to open it. I took it out of the female's tank two weeks ago and, not having any better ideas, I threw it into the lizard incubator.
Ponieważ jutro wyjeżdżam, musiałam zrobić coś z kokonem. Dla przypomnienia: to jest mój pierwszy kokon i nie mam absolutnie żadnego doświadczenia w rozmnażaniu ptaszników. Wiedziałam jednak, że zostawienie na dwa tygodnie zamkniętego kokonu to zły pomysł. Zdecydowałam się więc go otworzyć. Dwa tygodnie temu odebrałam go samicy i, nie mając lepszego pomysłu, wrzuciłam do inkubatora dla jaszczurek.

The sac was little. What you can see in the picture is mainly some loose web. I expected not more than 30 eggs. I read a lot of breeding attempt descriptions. The authors often described opening sacs with decayed eggs inside. With my hands trembling I got down to business :) My anxiety was gone when I saw this:
Kokon był malutki. To co widać na zdjęciu to głównie luźna sieć. Spodziewałam się najwyżej 30 sztuk. Czytałam wiele opisów prób rozmnożeń. Często autorzy opisywali otwarcie kokonu, gdzie były same zgniłe jajeczka. Z duszą na ramieniu i trzęsącymi się rękami zabrałam się do roboty :) Obawy minęły, gdy moim oczom ukazał się taki oto widok:

 As you can see, there were already some nymphs. Then I poured the contents into a separate container.
Jak widać, zaczęły już pojawiać się nimfy. Potem wysypałam zawartość do innego pojemniczka.

NEVER would I guess that I would find...95 eggs!!! All of them healthy! There were two more, but I accidently destroyed them :/
NIGDY bym nie przypuszczała, że znajdę w tym kokonie...95 jajeczek!!! Wszystkie zdrowe! Były jeszcze dwa, ale niestety je uszkodziłam :/

Now all I have to do is to hope that all of them will be alive in two weeks time :)
Teraz pozostaje mi mieć nadzieję, że za dwa tygodnie nadal wszystkie będą żywe :)

Ephebopus murinus eggsac

A while ago, I bought my male E. murinus a girlfriend. My male is a good boy-no aggression-so I was afraid that the female would like to eat him during copulation. But she turned out to be a calm one, too. Yesterday I took a peek into the box and there was my female with an eggsac! It's my fist eggsac! :D I'm SO happy :) I didn't want to bother her, but I couldn't resist taking just one shot.
Jakiś czas temu mojemu samcowi E. murinus dokupiłam dziewczynę. Mój samiec zawsze był bardzo grzeczny-zero agresji-toteż bałam się, że przy kopulacji samica będzie chciała go schrupać. Tymczasem samica też mi się trafiła spokojna. Nawet dwa razy dopuszczałam. Wczoraj zaglądam do pojemnika samicy, a tam kokon! Pierwszy w moim życiu kokon ptasznika! :D BARDZO się ucieszyłam :) Nie chcę samicy za bardzo niepokoić, ale nie mogłam powstrzymać się przed cyknięciem jednej fotki.

It's high time I presented my spiders :) I've been putting it off for too long. Before I strart, sorry for the poor quality of the shots-I don't have an ultra-good camera that would catch separate hairs on spiders' abdomen. I hope you won't get discouraged by that.
Najwyższy czas zaprezentować moje pajączki :) Coś długo z tym zwlekałam, ale już nadrabiam zaległości. Z góry przepraszam za jakość zdjęć-nie posiadam super aparatu, którym mogłabym robić zbliżenia na pojedyncze włoski na odwłoku. Mam jednak nadzieję, że to was nie zniechęci.

My first spider-Avicularia versicolor (9th instar). It's getting its adult colours.
Mój pierwszy pająk-dziś już L9-Avicularia versicolor. Pomału nabiera dorosłych kolorków.

Her neighbour is Avicularia Peru Purple, 9th instar too.
Jej sąsiadką jest Avicularia Peru Purple, również L9.

I have one more Avic-Avicularia diversipes 6th instar. She really looks better in reality.
Z Aviculariii posiadam również Avicularię diversipes L6. Zdjęcie zdecydowanie nie oddaje jej piękna.

I have two Brachypelmas: boehmei and smithi-both 9th instar. It's said that Brachypelmas are calm to the extent of boredom. Mine are more nervous. The moment you open the enclosure they start kicking hairs like crazy!
Posiadam dwie Brachypelmy: boehmei i smithi- obie L9. Mówi się, że Brachypelmy są tak spokojne, że aż nudne. Moje natomiast to straszne nerwusy. Ledwie otworzy się terra, a już wyczesują się jak szalone!

My favourite spider didn't want to cooperate this time. Chromatopelma cyaneopbescens 10th instar.
Moje ulubione ptaszątko nie chciało dziś współpracować-pokazała mi, że mam mnie dosłownie w tyle! Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens L10.

Ephebopus murinus is my first spider that has become adult. Unfortunately he's a boy.
Ostatnio mój Ephebopus murinus jako pierwszy z moich ptaszorów doszedł do dorosłości. Niestety wyliniał na samca.

I wanted him to have some fun, so I bought him a new house where he has already put a new carpet...
Żeby miał trochę z życia, kupiłam mu nowe mieszkanko, w którym już rozłożył nową wykładzinę...

...and I aslo bought a girl for him :D The girl is a little experienced, she even had a sac.
...a także...panienkę :D "Dziewczynka" jest już dosyć doświadczona, po kilku przygodnych znajomościach i kokonie.

My tiny Ephebopus cyanognathus prefers hiding, but I've recently cought him sunbathing and I even managaed to invite him for a little walk. It's a pity that he was hiding his beautiful blue teeth.
Mój malutki Ephebopus cyanognathus woli siedzieć w ukryciu, ale ostatnio przyłapałam go na opalaniu, a nawet zachęciłam do małego spacerku. Szkoda tylko, że tak bardzo zasłaniał swoje piękne błękitne ząbki.

Towards the end of last year I bought Aphonopelma seemanni blue form, 8th instar. Very rarely do I see her outside.
Pod koniec poprzedniego roku zamieszkała u mnie Aphonopelma seemanni blue form L8. Bardzo rzadko widzę ją na powierzchni.

Another spider that likes to hide is Tapinauchenius violaceus. Sometimes I don't even know if he's still alive.
Jest też Tapinauchenius violaceus L 7, który wychodzi z kryjówki tak rzadko, że nie wiem czy jeszcze żyje, czy już nie.

One of my nicest spiders is, 8th instar. Despite her entire tranquility, she has the soul of a crazy artist. She redecorstes her home as fast as her owner buys new spiders :D She won't get discouraged by any amount of soil! Even if there was a 30cm layer, she would build a complex construction with pillars.
Jednym z moich najmilszych pająków jest Grammostola pulchra L8. Pomimo wielkiego spokoju drzemie w niej dusza szalonej artystki. Przemeblowuje swoje domki w takim tempie jak jej właścicielka kupuje nowe ptaszniki :D Żadna ilość podłoża jej niestraszna! Choćby była tam 30cm warstwa, ona i tak zbuduje z tego skomplikowaną konstrukcję z kolumnami.

I've recently got interested in true spiders. Unfortunately they are very hard to keep alive. They due to any reasons. My beloved jumping spiders Phidippus regius are hardest to keep. They are so tiny that sometimes they are even afraid of fruit flies. If you spray some water into their enclosure, thay can drown in the smallest drops of water. Among 8 jumping spiders I had, only one survived.
Ostatnio zagustowałam też w true spiders. Niestety bardzo ciężko utrzymać je przy życiu. Padają z byle powodu. Najtrudniej utrzymać moje ukochane skakuny Phidippus regius. Są tak maleńkie, że nieraz boją się muszek owocówek. Zwilży im się pojemnik trochę zbyt hojnie i topią się w kropelce wody. Na 8 sztuk, jakie miałam, został mi tylko jeden, na którego BARDZO uważam.

Jumping spiders are awesome! They're like tiny robots :D
Skakuny są niesamowite! Są jak małe robociki :D

I aslo have one tiny Lycosa singoriensis.
Mam też jedną maleńką Lycosa singoriensis.

And two Heteropoda davidbowie.
Oprócz tego, mam jeszcze dwie Heteropoda davidbowie.

They are real DEMONS OF SPEED!!! They don't walk, they don't run, they just teleport! If they wanted to run away, they wouldn't have any problem with that! You can't even see when they move. Fortunately, they move in a characteristic way-they move and stop immediately. Thanks to this, you know that even if they diappear, thay have to be nearby, not on the other side of the room, like in the case of some arboreal species :)
To są DEMONY PRĘDKOŚCI!!! One nie chodzą, nie biegają, ale teleportują się! Jakby chciały uciec, to nie miałyby z tym najmniejszego problemu! Nawet nie widać jak ruszą z miejsca. Na szczęście poruszają się takimi charakterystycznymi ostrymi ruchami-pędzą i się zatrzymują. Dzięki temu wiadomo, że jeśli znikły, to są gdzieś obok, a nie na drugim końcu pokoju jak to bywa z niektórymi ptasznikami nadrzewnymi :)
