I've lived here for over 5 months and I still haven't shown you the organisation of my collection. I'm going to show you both the animals and plants.
Mieszkam tu od ponad 5 miesięcy i nadal nie pochwaliłam się organizacją mojej kolekcji. Zaprezentuję zarówno część zwierzęcą jak i roślinną.
Let me start with the animals. This subject used to be the source of my fear, as I didn't know if my collection would fit into the new flat. Although the two of us have only two rooms, my terrariums fit perfectly in the smaller room (and I still have even more space for my spider collection ;) ). I feel so relieved :D The main three terrariums, with 4 smaller containers, stand separately.
Zacznę od zwierzaków. Ten temat był dla mnie źródłem stresu przez długi czas, jako że nie wiedziałam czy moja kolekcja pomieści się w nowym mieszkaniu. Choć mamy tylko dwa pokoje, moje terraria spokojnie mieszczą się w mniejszym pokoju (i nadal mam miejsce na więcej pająków ;) ). Czuję wielką ulgę :D Główne 3 terraria stoją sobie oddzielnie wraz z czterema mniejszymi pudełkami.
If it wasn't for the switch on the wall, I could probably have even wider tanks. The bottom tank belongs to my 2 Laudakia stellio brachydactyla, the middle one is my red cornsnake's home, and at the top there are 2 Sceloporus malachiticus. The smaller containers belong to the horned frog, the smaller female cornsnake, Grammostola pulchra, and Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens.
Gdyby nie ten włącznik na ścianie, mogłabym mieć jeszcze szersze terraria. W dolnym siedzą moje dwa Laudakia stellio brachydactyla, w środkowym mieszka czerwony wężulek zbożowy, a u góry są dwa Sceloporus malachiticus. W mniejszych pudełkach mam żabkę rogatą, małą wężulkę zbożową, Grammostola pulchra i Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens.
On the other side of the room, I have a small Phelsuma klemmeri tank and most of my spiders.
Po drugiej stronie pokoju znajduje się małe terrarium dla Phelsuma klemmeri i większość pajęczej kolekcji.
The spiders have now got their own cabinet, which probably isn't the essence of beauty, but it has a rather practical side-at least my fiance and people that visit us believe that they are safer thanks to the glass door ;)
It looks like my pets don't feel any difference between the old and the new home. One of the first things I did when I moved here was to put my Laudakia stellio brachydactyla couple into the basement for brumation. I really want them to breed. Unfortunately, they still are not sexually attracted to one another ;(
Pająki mają teraz swoją własną gablotę, która może nie jest najpiękniejsza, ale za to ma dosyć praktyczną stronę-przynajmniej mój narzeczony i nasi goście czują się bezpiczniej dzięki szklanym drzwiczkom ;) Wygląda na to, że zwierzaki nie odczuły specjalnej różnicy między domami. Jedną z pierwszych rzeczy jakie zrobiłam kiedy się tu przeprowadziłam, było wyniesienie parki Laudakia stellio brachydactyla do piwnicy, żeby się trochę pohibernowasły. Bardzo chcę je rozmnożyć. Niestety, nadal nie są sobą zbyt zainteresowane ;(
But I can't complain about other lizards. Sceloporus malachiticus keep copulating (but I still can't see the outcome), while my Phelsumas have finally laid eggs :)
Ale nie mogę narzekać na pozostałe jaszczurki. Sceloporus malachiticus kopulują (ale nadal nie widzę rezultatów), a felsumki złożyły w końcu jajka :)
If it comes to my plants, as you know, I used to keep them outside. Although they had their own rack in the garden, I couldn't avoid the rain to overwater my cacti (which was the reason of their death in many cases). For the winter season, I used to put them in the basement, which also was a bit hard for them. My main objective, after I moved in, was to put windows on the balcony to create sort of an orangery. Without them, the balcony was useless-not only would it be impossible to keep plants in winter there, but is located next to a busy street which causes a lot of dirt.
Co do roślin, jak wiadomo, dotąd trzymałam je na dworze. Chociaż maiły swój własny regał w ogrodzie, nie mogłam uniknąć deszczu zalewającego moje kaktusy (co nieraz było przyczyną ich śmierci). Na zimę wynosiłam je do piwnicy, co też było dla nich dość ciężkie Moim głównym celem po przeprowadzce była zabudowa balkonu, żeby stworzyć taką jakby oranżerię. Bez okien balkon był bezużyteczny-nie dość że roślin nie można by tam trzymać zimą, to jeszcze balkon położony jest tuż obok ruchliwej ulicy, przez co zawsze pełno tam było czarnego brudu.
After we placed the windows, my fiance painted the walls white and we installed 2 racks for the plants.
Po wstawieniu okien mój narzeczony pomalował ściany na biało i wstawiliśmy 2 regały na rośliny.
Now that's a sad view ;)

Although the racks are made of plastic, they are quite sturdy.
Choć regały są z plastiku, są dość solidne.
And finally I brought the plants from my parents' house.
I w końcu przywiozłam rośliny z domu rodziców.
I devoted one rack to cacti and caudiciforms, and the second one to other plants, mainly african violets. I even bought some bonsai (or I made some myself).
Jeden regał przeznaczyłam na kaktusy i kaudeksy, a drugi na inne rośliny, głównie fiołki afrykańskie. Kupiłam też kilka bonsai (niektóre sam zrobiłam).
I really didn't know what to expect. This experiment could end up in a disaster. After all, the plants were used to very different conditions. Moreover, the balcony is on the eastern side, which gives them less light. But the results stunned me! The plants are more than happy. They grow like crazy, and those that bloomed in June/July are blooming now! This is the best thing I could do to my cacti. The conditions resemble those in a greenhouse which visibly boosts their growth. I'm so happy about it! Now, according to my fiance, I spend way too much time staring at the plants. But I can't help it when I see some differences every few hours :)
Naprawdę nie wiedziałam czego się spodziewać. Ten eksperyment mógł się zakończyć katastrofą. W końcu rośliny były przyzwyczajone do innych warunków. Co więcej, balkon jest po stronie wschodniej, co daje mniej światła. Ale efekt zwalił mnie z nóg! Rośliny są bardziej niż szczęśliwe. Rosną jak szalone, a te co kwitły w czerwcu/lipcu, kwitną już teraz! To najlepsza rzecz jaką mogłam zrobić dla moich kaktusów. Warunki przypominają szklarniowe, co wyraźnie przyspiesza ich wzrost. Bardzo się cieszę! Teraz, według narzeczonego, spędzam za dużo czasu gapiąc się na rośliny. Ale co mogę poradzić, kiedy różnice widać już po kilku godzinach? :)
